L. has created engaging presentations for youth, ages 11-16. Presentations are 45-60 minutes in length. And because of L.’s background in Education, International Relations, Art History, and Languages (Spanish and French) as well as her experiences living in the US, UK, and Europe, the diverse and in-depth presentations provide an opportunity for her to inform and inspire young people. Students also have an opportunity to ask L. questions about her journey as an author, global educator, illustrator, and world traveller. Also, L. presents at events hosted by schools, public libraries, community centers, international organizations, and arts venues. These events include Career Day, Global Leaders, and Multicultural Day.

“I think that she passed on her message very clearly. I found it very inspiring; the work she puts into her books and company. I also thought that it was interactive and very creative. The art is very compelling and the life story gave us ideas of how life works. Phoebe Douse is very attractive and I can’t wait to read it.”
— George, Grade 7 student at EIB Victor Hugo School, Paris

L. Samuels’s goals are to inspire youth to read more and share the joy of reading so that they will become informed and develop self-confidence through discussions, self-expression, and sharing their views. Book club meetings are held globally, in and out of schools, on a monthly basis. L. also provides activity guides and connects with the book clubs through:

  • In-person meetings; and

  • Skype
